Classification Of Age Groupings For International And Mka Championship Dog Shows (Effective 1st January 2005)

Classes Offered Definition Of Classes
MINOR PUPPY For Dogs above 3 months to 6 months of age on the day of the show. (Not eligible for CC and other classes)
PUPPY For Dogs above 6 months to 10 months of age on the day of the show.
JUNIOR For Dogs above 10 months to 15 months of age on the day of the show.
*INTERMEDIATE For Dogs above 15 months to 24 months of age on the day of the show.
VETERAN For Dogs above 6 years old on the day of the show.
*OPEN For All Dogs above 24 months of age on the day of the show.
MAL. BRED For Dogs Whelped in Malaysia & above 6 months old on the day of the show.

For MKA Championship Dog Shows, all undefeated dogs/bitches in their classes (except Minor Puppy class) are eligible to compete for CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE (CC).

*At MKA International Dogs Shows with attribution of the CACIB of the F.C.I, only Intermediate and Open dogs/bitches can compete for CACIB. MKA Challenge Certificates are also offered for all Classes (except Minor Puppy Class) at International Dog Shows.

Malaysian Champion Title (Effective September 2010)

To become a Champion a dog has to accumulate a total of 36 points. Each CC is worth 12 points and a Reserve CC (RCC) is worth 4 points. A dog must win atleast one CC amongst it’s other wins to qualify as a Champion. A dog can only become A dog can only qualify for title of Malaysian Champion, after it is more 12 months old. At least 1 (one) CC must be won after the dog is more than 12 months old, if the dog has already accumulated enough points to qualify as a Malaysian Champion whilst still under 12 months of age.

Malaysian Grand Champion Title (Effective September 2010)

The title of Malaysian Grand Champion (Mal. Gr. Ch.) can be attained by dogs who meet the following criteria.

4 Best in Groups + 10 CC’s 10
3 Best in Groups + 2 Res. Best in Groups + 10 CC’s 10
1 Best in Group + 5 Res. Best in Groups + 15 CC’s 15
20 CC’s (1st and 20th CC must be won 12 calendar months apart) 20
* Other refers to groups that must be won in addition to the Group won when the dog won Res. Best in Show.

All applications for the title of Grand Champion must be made on a separate form with details of all relevant criteria, for approval and official recording by the MKA inclusive of admin fee.

Malaysian Hall Of Fame Title (Effective September 2010)

The title of Malaysian Hall of Fame (Mal. HOF) can be attained by dogs over the age of 12 months who meet the following criteria.

* Other refers to groups that must be won in addition to the Group won when the dog won Best in Show or Res. Best in Show.

All applications for the title of Hall of Fame must be made on a separate form with details of all relevant criteria, for approval and official recording by the MKA inclusive of admin fee.

Group & Bis Placing (Effective 27th November 2010)

All Championship Shows will henceforth have three Group placings and three BIS placings accordingly. These placings will only apply to Best In Group and Best in Show and not for other In-Group and In-Show awards, i.e. Puppy, Junior, etc.

For BIS judging, only the Res. Best in Group (Grp. 2) winner will be called back into the ring to compete if the Group winner is selected for BIS, not the R/u to Res. Best in Group (Grp. 3). Similarly for Group Judging only the Reserve Best of Breeds will come back into the ring to compete for the Reserve in Group and R/U to Res. Best in Group.
